Contractor Referral and Marketplace Terms
Honest Fix, LLC · Effective July 17, 2026 · Legal pack v10 (2026-07-13)
Status note: the Contractor Membership / Vetted Pro directory described below is not yet a public, live feature of the Honest Fix consumer app. This document is published in advance of that launch, consistent with the pack's own front matter.
9.1 Status
The contractor directory feature described here allows contractors to pay a monthly membership fee to be listed as a Vetted Pro, with homeowners able to view a listing and contact a contractor directly. Honest Fix does not match, route, or send specific leads to specific contractors; homeowners initiate contact on their own.
The homeowner-contractor workflow: a homeowner uses Honest Fix to find a listed contractor's contact information. The contractor reviews Honest Fix's fair-market evaluation range for the job and independently prepares and sends the homeowner a bid. The homeowner then decides whether to accept that bid and hire the contractor. Honest Fix is not a party to that transaction at any point and never receives, holds, or transmits any payment between the homeowner and the contractor. All payment for the work happens directly and solely between them.
9.2 What "Vetted Pro" Means
A Vetted Pro is a contractor whose active state contractor license, general liability insurance, and workers' compensation coverage we confirmed before signing them as a Vetted Pro. This is not a guarantee of workmanship, character, or current coverage. We re-verify each Vetted Pro's license, insurance, workers' compensation status, and licensing-board record at least once every 12 months, regardless of the contractor's monthly membership billing cycle. A contractor's listing is suspended if a scheduled re-verification is not completed.
Specifically, before listing a contractor as a Vetted Pro, we have:
- Confirmed the contractor holds a current, active Utah contractor license by checking the license number against the Utah Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL) lookup, and saved a copy of the lookup result.
- Collected a Certificate of Insurance for general liability, listing Honest Fix as certificate holder.
- Collected a workers' compensation certificate, or a valid sole-proprietor exemption.
- Checked the state licensing board's public record for the contractor's outstanding complaints or disciplinary actions, and saved a copy of that result.
"Vetted Pro" does NOT mean the contractor holds all required licenses for every type of work; that insurance is current at the time of any specific job; that we have evaluated workmanship, reliability, or character; or that we endorse, guarantee, or warrant any work.
9.3 No Guarantee of Contractor Quality
Honest Fix is a marketplace, not a party to any contract between a homeowner and a contractor. We make no warranty regarding work quality, code compliance, the contractor's financial stability, or project outcomes. Any repair contract is solely between you and the contractor. Honest Fix is not liable for any contractor act, omission, or negligence.
9.4 Contractor Obligations
By participating in the marketplace, each contractor agrees to: maintain all required licenses and insurance and notify Honest Fix immediately of any lapse or revocation; not misrepresent their qualifications or capacity; comply with all applicable laws; provide homeowners a written contract before starting significant work; not charge rates materially different from those represented in their listing; and comply with the Honest Fix Contractor Code of Conduct, incorporated here by reference. We may suspend or remove a contractor for violation of these obligations, receipt of credible complaints, or at our sole discretion.
9.5 Membership Fees and Payment
Contractors pay a recurring monthly Contractor Membership fee to be listed as a Vetted Pro; current pricing is shown at checkout and on the pricing page. Homeowners are not charged any fee to view listings or contact a contractor. Honest Fix does not currently charge a separate per-lead fee, and does not hold or manage funds between homeowners and contractors; all payment for any repair work is made directly between the homeowner and the contractor. Honest Fix and its contractors are always separate parties to any repair transaction; Honest Fix never receives, holds, or transmits funds on either party's behalf, at any point, in this workflow.
9.6 Legal Flags
Utah Code Title 58, Chapter 55 generally applies to those performing construction work, not to a listing platform, and a flat recurring membership fee is a different structure from a percentage-based referral fee. Honest Fix will survey home-improvement-referral licensing rules in states known to regulate this specifically before marketing into a new state. If a future version ever adds a deposit, escrow, or milestone-payment feature, a money-transmission analysis is required before that feature ships.
9.7 Homeowner Acknowledgment
By using the referral feature, you acknowledge that: you are choosing to contact or hire a contractor at your own discretion; Honest Fix does not match, recommend, or assign a specific contractor to your project, you choose who to contact from the directory; Honest Fix is not responsible for the contractor's work or conduct; Vetted Pro means only what Section 9.2 describes; and you should independently verify a contractor's license and insurance before entering any contract.
